Ready for clipping.
Preparation makes a difference.

Good preparation makes a clipping visit at your yard easier to organise. This checklist explains what I ask you to arrange before a Clipique appointment.

Wash your horse and let the coat dry completely

Please wash your horse thoroughly before the appointment. Allow enough time for the coat to be completely dry when I arrive. A clean, dry coat helps me clip efficiently and finish carefully.

Dirt and sand cause extra wear and can damage clipping equipment. An unwashed horse incurs a €15 surcharge excluding VAT. If no water is available, contact me before the appointment to discuss the options. See the full price list.

Have your horse ready at the agreed time

Make sure your horse is available when the appointment starts. For several horses, agree at the yard which horses will be clipped and who can help get them ready, so we can follow the planned schedule.

Choose a safe, well-lit workspace

Provide enough room to work around your horse, good lighting and a nearby electrical outlet. A clear workspace makes it easier to work calmly and see the details.

Keep brushes and cleaning equipment nearby

Have suitable brushes ready for grooming and removing loose hair. Provide a broom and manure scoop to keep the workspace clean.

Have someone available to help

Someone familiar with your horse should be available if help is needed, for example around sensitive areas such as the ears or legs. Tell me beforehand if your horse finds clipping difficult so we can discuss assistance.

Discuss individual needs beforehand

Let me know about sensitivities, previous difficult clipping sessions and your preferred clipping style. If sedation is a consideration, we will discuss whether you need to consult your vet. Your vet assesses whether sedation is appropriate.
